Congratulations - State Jazz Band Festival

Congratulations to the MHS Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble! On Saturday, both groups participated in the State Jazz Band Festival here at Muscatine. The Jazz Band earned a division II rating, and had straight II's from all four judges. The Jazz Ensemble earned a division I rating and was 1 point from Straight one's from all 4 judges! Congratulations!

We would also like to thank all the people who helped throughout the day. It doesn't happen without all your effort!

Congratulations - SEIBA Honor Band

Congratulations to the MHS Band members who auditioned for the SEIBA Honor Band on Saturday! We had 14 members audition, and 10 were accepted!

Those accepted were:

Gerardo Gomez and Michael Davis on Alto Saxophone,
Kimi Adasme and Ana Arzate on Clarinet,
Keegan Dwyer on Trombone,
Michael Hickey on French Horn,
Thomas Stackhouse on Tuba,
Darron Carr, Alex Johnson, and Hasan Pasha on Percussion!

MHS was represented by amazing talent! The SEIBA Honor Band is arguably the second highest honor band in the state of Iowa and requires the same level of achievement as All-State. We are very fortunate to have so many students who have earned this honor! If you get a chance, please congratulate them!

Josh is a Drum Major at Iowa State this year - This video is played prior to the ISUCF’V’MB taking the field prior to the home football games. The MHS Band program as many Alumni performing at ISU, Iowa, UNI, Monmouth College, Kansas and others and now also instructing across the area. Sophomore clarinetist Karyn Klimes was selected to play in the All-State Band and senior percussionist Darron Carr was selected as an alternate. They will perform in the Iowa Music Association’s annual All-State Music Festival Saturday, Nov. 19, in AmesMuscaine Journal - All-State Article

Muskie Invite - A Big Sucess

Thank you to the community and all of those who attended the Muskie Invite on Saturday, October 8th! A BIG THANK YOU to all of the volunteers. We had a great evening and the bands were great! Mark you calendars for October 6th, 2012 for the next Muskie Invite!!

The results from the show are:

Class 2A:

4th Place: Alburnett 60.0
3rd Place: Jesup 71.7
2nd Place: Cascade 72.7
1st Place: Tipton 74.5
Class 3A:

1st Place: Western Dubuque 86.6

Overall:

Best Hornline: Western Dubuque
Best Color Guard: Western Dubuque
Best Drumline: Western Dubuque
Best Drum Majors: Cascade
Grand Champion 2011: Western Dubuque

MHS was in exhibition. We were judged for the sole purpose of preparation for our performance on the 15th at 2:30p.m. in the MHS Stadium.

It will be the last chance for our community to see our tribute to the 40's and all those who have fought or given their lives for our country. $5/adult $3/student. No passes accepted because it is a state event.

Congratulations to Dan Drahos. The Iowa Pork Producers Association held its fourth annual Cyclone PORK Tailgate Challenge Saturday, Oct. 1, prior to the Iowa State vs. Texas football game in Ames.

Sign up codes have been assigned to protect the network from unwanted visitors. Signing up is quick and painless. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes and requires 3 simple steps.
